Restorative Dentistry

Restoration Dentistry is where we restore natural teeth that have been damaged, decayed or lost.  We can often treat teeth which have broken or become infected or otherwise damaged.  A few of the treatments that we offer include:

Fillings and Restorations

Dental Crowns and Bridges

Dental Implants

Inlays and Onlays

Fillings and Restoration

Fillings made from tooth-colored composite resin are the latest way to repair cavities.  Because the resin is custom-matched to your natural tooth color, these fillings are virtually undetectable.  Composite resin is a durable material that provides greater structural support to teeth damaged by cavities than the metal fillings of the past.  Replacing your older metal fillings with tooth-colored fillings is a great way to improve the look and strength of your smile.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

For patients with gaps from one or more missing teeth fixed dental bridges are a great non-surgical method for replacement.  A dental bridge consists of two crowns on either side of the space, with replacement teeth securely bonded in between.  This restoration is non-removable.  It looks, feels and functions just like your natural teeth.  Dental bridges also restore your biting surface and help to maintain proper alignment of the upper opposing tooth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are an excellent way to replace missing teeth and retain jawbone mass without compromising the functionality, comfort, and beauty of your smile.  First, titanium anchors are implanted into the jawbone below the spots where your teeth are missing.  Once the anchors have integrated into the bone and healed, Dr. Burch will attach the attractive, custom-crafted porcelain restorations to fill in the gaps.  The completed dental implant is extremely secure and functions just like your natural tooth.

Dental implants can also be used to more firmly affix full or partial dentures.  After implanting the appropriate number of anchors, custom designed full or partial over dentures with specialized clasps underneath can be snapped into place for improved functionality and security.

Inlays and Onlays

Dental inlays and onlays are restorations used to repair rear teeth that have a mild to moderate amount of decay.  They can also be used to restore teeth that are cracked or fractured if the damage is not severe enough to require a dental crown.  They are usually made from porcelain, composite resin.  Because they can be created from tooth-colored materials, inlays and onlays are often used to replace metal fillings for patients who desire a more natural looking smile.
